Folks,I'm starting to see a pattern (I hope others are too) which appears that people, i.e. "wdc", "polyignorant" and "Bigsky" are perpetuating an organized infiltration effort to discredit polygraph. Conspiracy or not, it's becoming a problem. Ralph, if our true effort is to answer legitimate questions about our profession, focusing on the positive and not to argue its validity and viability, then I suggest you do something about the F.O.G. who appear to be making headway into our pro-polygraph site. I have no problem with defending our profession, but for the truly ignorant who wish honest answers, all the conflict and challenging postings by "posers" are really more confusing and will ultimately cause more harm than good. My $.02 worth. Spend it or leave it on the ground... Jim IP: Logged |

I agree. It does seem we're spending too much time defending polygraph, but leaving the questions and comments unchallenged could appear to some, if not most, readers that we agree the false statements being made by these people.I'm not sure what the solution is though. IP: Logged |

It seems they enter under false pretenses, i.e. wanting to know some information about a specific or general polygraph process. It seems honest enough in the beginnning, then at some point the tone changes to confrontational regarding polygraph's valifity or ability. Once in, they keep the post alive by making meaningless comments about their own post which keeps the posting at the top of the list; where anyone entering the site honestly will obviously read, first... Hey Ralph, how about once a post becomes confrontational or argumentative concerning validity and reliability you delete it with the notice: "This entry was deleted due to it's argumentative and confrontational nature. Polygraph Place is a pro-polygraph website encouraging the honest dialogue of issues pertaining to the polygraph profession." I think that when the honest questions of those who ar e skeptical or even (within limits) critical of polygraph are answered with courtesy and respect, as they have been, that we all benefit.------------------ John 8:32

polyops,I agree, when dealing with those who truly and honestly want information about polygraph, even skeptics. The problem is the argumentative nature which later evolves, thereby revealing their true intent, that I'm suggesting be deleted. People who have honest questions or concerns about polygraph do not later post a supporting comment concerning the NAS report or some obscure research study or report in a later posting, thereby questioning the validity of the process. It would have been put up front, had they been honest. Jim [This message has been edited by sackett (edited 04-22-2005).] IP: Logged |

It's hard to tell. I would expect some people will probably post here first before they start reading the stuff on the anti site. If we were to start deleting posts of people who honestly came here with good intentions, it could play into the hands of the antis.------------------ John 8:32

I like Sacketts idea and also understand Polyops comments. Is there a way to stop a thread when it becomes confrontational and place the last post by the administrator stating - "This entry HAS BEEN CLOSED due to it's argumentative and confrontational nature. Polygraph Place is a pro-polygraph website encouraging the honest dialogue of issues pertaining to the polygraph profession." I have a feeling the FOGS aren't going to go away. I really enjoyed Anal Sphincter toying with the anti site and now they are trying to do the same with us. We don't need to delete the thread - we just need to find a way so the thread cannot accept any more posts...thus moving it down the line. IP: Logged |

I go back to what I said in the last thread. The questions they ask are all a set up. WDC even wants one of "us" to call him personally to talk about his "issues".Ignore them and don't respond to their posts. They will go away and start posting on a "tractor pull" website somewhere! Can we all agree PYCHK has gone over the line? Even the best of kind, intelligent responses will do nothing for him.IP: Logged |
